How it works

Spotlight keeps it simple: the loudest plays rise to the Jumbotron, the feed stays positive, and every athlete has a Locker where their journey lives over time.

1

Jumbotron

Youth / Amateur / College / Pro

The top cheered-for highlights show up in the Jumbotron by level — so great plays get celebrated without needing likes, comments, or drama.

No DMs

Fans can support athletes, but there is no direct contact. No messages. No sliding into anything. Ever.

No comment sections means no toxicity, no bullying, and no pressure. Cheering happens through Voice — not opinions.

No public social graph

Fans don’t see who other fans follow. Athletes can see who’s in their crowd (for control), but the public can’t.

Why this exists

The world has social & professional identity platforms —
but nothing for sports.

Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are social identity platforms.
LinkedIn is the professional identity platform.

But for athletes — especially kids — there has never been a safe place designed to follow them through their sports journey, capture their growth, and build a lifelong record of who they are as an athlete.

Everything else forces young athletes into platforms that weren’t built for them — public comments, DMs, pressure to perform, and exposure they shouldn’t have to navigate just to share something they love.

Spotlight and Spotlight ID were built to create the world’s first sports identity platform — one that grows with an athlete from their first highlight to their final season, while staying positive, controlled, and safe at every step.

— Founder, Spotlight
This isn’t about going viral.
It’s about identity.

A place where athletes can look back years from now and see the full story — the work, the progress, the setbacks, the wins — all captured in one safe, intentional system.

Spotlight shows the moments.
Spotlight ID preserves the journey.

FAQ

Quick answers

Spotlight is built for sports moments, athlete safety, and positive fandom. Here are the most common questions from families, athletes, and teams.

What is Spotlight?
+
Spotlight is a sports highlights platform where great plays rise through cheering, not comments. It’s designed to celebrate athletes across Youth, Amateur, College, and Pro — without the toxic mechanics of social media.
Who is Spotlight for?
+
Spotlight is for athletes, families, teams, coaches, and fans who want a safer way to share and celebrate sports moments. It’s especially built with youth athletes in mind.
What makes Spotlight different from TikTok/Instagram?
+
Spotlight removes the features that create pressure and toxicity: no public comments, no DMs, and no follower-first social graph. Discovery is powered by cheering and context — not outrage or attention hacks.
How does cheering work?
+
Fans support highlights using Voice — a constrained, earned way to cheer. That support helps determine what rises to the Jumbotron and what gets discovered. The goal is to reward great moments without creating comment wars.
Can people message athletes?
+
No. Spotlight is built without DMs. Athletes shouldn’t need to manage strangers in their inbox to be celebrated.
Are there comments?
+
No public comment sections. Fans can cheer and react positively, but Spotlight doesn’t create a stage for negativity.
What is Spotlight Identity?
+
Spotlight Identity is the athlete identity layer that grows over time — a clean place for verified highlights, milestones, and an athlete’s journey to accumulate across seasons and levels.
Who can upload highlights?
+
Uploads can come from athletes, verified teams, parents/guardians, and approved creators. Spotlight is designed so moments are tied to context — athlete, sport, team, and level.
Can fans submit clips?
+
Yes — through Highlight Assist: a quiet, filtered suggestion flow (not DMs). Athletes (or guardians) stay in control of what gets posted.
Who controls an athlete’s profile and highlights?
+
Athletes control their Spotlight experience. For youth athletes, guardians can be involved where appropriate. Spotlight is built around athlete-controlled identity, not public pressure.
How do you handle safety and moderation?
+
Safety is designed into the product: no DMs, no comment sections, and constrained engagement mechanics. We also plan clear reporting tools and fast review flows for misuse, impersonation, or unsafe content.
Is Spotlight free?
+
The core experience is designed to be accessible. Premium features (like optional fan support for eligible athletes) can exist later as add-ons — always with safety and transparency.
Will Spotlight include NIL and monetization?
+
For eligible athletes, Spotlight can support optional monetization paths over time (ex: premium fan support). Any NIL-related features are intended to be eligibility-based and compliance-first.
When is the app launching?
+
Spotlight is in active development. The website explains the system and roadmap while we build the product the right way. If you’d like to be notified about pilots and early access, join the waitlist above.
Note: Spotlight is designed to be positive by default. If you’re a parent, coach, or athletic program interested in early pilots or partnerships, let us know.
